Any start-up with more than one owner should have a shareholder agreement setting out what applies for the owners and the cooperation between them. In fact this should be on top of your list when setting up business. A shareholder agreement is a useful tool for aligning expectations. It may cover the contributions of each owner in terms of working hours, inventions and/or capital, how owners may enter or exit, and how to deal with conflicts. A well-drafted shareholder agreement can save the owners for many conflicts and may even secure the survival of the business if the owners get into a dispute. Guest speaker, Lisbet Andersen, will be coming in to CBS to provide you with more information on the importance of this.
