What’s on tap this week:

Morten Reimar – Blue in the Face

Reimar is a young, Danish, beat-poet, who, like Dan Turéll before him, hails from the suburb of Gentofte. Aged only twenty-one, he now is expanding is artistic repertoire by collaborating with Frihavnen, a three-piece group which describes its influences as “jazz, hip-hop, electronica, and punk.” On Blue in the Face, Reimar fuses spoken-word with neo-jazz, musing over the relaxed drawl of Frihavnen’s horn-inspired beat. Perfect for long midnight commutes in early autumn.

 Also new:

Vulfpeck – 1612

Vulfpeck is a funk band out of Ann Arbour, Michigan, and they’re groovy as hell. Typically, lo-fi R&B funk isn’t my thing, but 1612 is damn hard not to love. Singer Antwaun Stanley croons smoothly like velour, and the bassline is so infectious, you can’t help but pump your shoulders to the beat.
