How To: Go to the Movies On a Dime
There are two things you should know.
The first is something called Telia Tuesday. If you are a customer of the phone company Telia, then you can participate in a two for one movie deal. Every Tuesday between 18:00 and 20:30, Telia makes 2,000 tickets available. All you have to do is text the message 2FOR1 to the number 1231. Telia then sends you a code that you need to punch into the consul they have in most movie theaters and print your two for the price of one ticket code. From there, take it to the ticket master to select your movie, seating, and time. Total price for two will likely come out to be between 70 and 80 DKK. It’s that easy. Although the best tip is to buy the tickets and reserve the seats early. These nights can get quite busy and no one likes to crane their neck from the front row even for a good price.
If you’re really looking for a free deal, check out the international movie nights with CPH Movie Evenings. Every second Thursday of the month all winter long, the organization treats Copenhagen citizens with films from all around the world in English or with English subtitles with the added benefit of a cafe selling cheap beers and popcorn.
The films tend to not be in commercial cinemas and “Focus on identity and culture in a political and social world.” One of the coolest parts being that audience members are welcome to bring their own movies as long as they go along with the night’s theme and then the group will vote to see, which film is debuted. This also happens on both the Facebook page and official website.
With the Academy Awards coming up at the end of the month, it makes sense to try and make it to the movie theater as a much as possible. Take advantage of these deals to buff up your knowledge.
