Style Spotted at CBS: Week 11

March 20, 2016  //  By:   //  FASHION, Featured  //  No Comment

With a little naivety we claim that spring is about to fall upon us, although we know that the weather is as volatile as our use of socks. So, what to wear on these days where the sun is shining for 10 minutes and subsequently goes back to its cloud-cave to hibernate? Whether or not the sun decides to have mercy on us, you can always bring out your own spring through your clothes – if not, get inspired by the different styles of students that I have spotted together with my camera!

A brief description of the outfit:

A black leather biker jacket from Pelechecoco paired with a navy-colored dotted shirt from Marc Jacobs, Black twill pants from Filippa K, heeled black boots from Notabene and a black bag from Zadig & Voltaire

What is your favorite clothes store?

Depends on the day and my bank account, but I like Kenzo’s prints and I think Acne Studios have the most beautiful cuts. However, I’m so good at spending my money on cocktails, so I usually end up in any second hand store at Larsbjørnsensstræde or at a cute place called OSV – if I have managed to go home early.

Describe your comprehensive style in 3 words:

Coincidental, black and…more black.

Do you mainly pick up the latest fashion trends to wear or do you unconsciously discover in-fashion pieces of clothing to wear when shopping?

Honestly, I know nothing about fashion, but I believe in gut feeling – if you have a garment in hand that is calling out your name, you get a feeling and should go for it – whether it is a recognized brand or not. By doing so, one often tend to randomly nail at least one out of the hundred trends that is said to be in-fashion when you at the same time buy something you’ve completely have fallen in love with. Win-win situation!

What do you believe is in fashion at the moment?

Confidence. It really has nothing to do with fashion, but a person looking like they own the world in the most random clothes ooze fashion anyway.

A brief description of the outfit:

My grandfather’s army-colored loden coat contrasted with an inner navy-colored spring jacket from Lacoste, a basic white shirt from Cottonfield paired with a navy-striped sweater from Lacoste, black denim jeans from H&M and a pair of Dr. Martens airwairs leather boots.

What is your favorite clothes store?

I don’t have any. I like H&M as much as I like Lacoste, it depends on what I am looking for. If I had been richer my favorite clothes store would be Gant Rugger.

Describe your comprehensive style in 3 words:

Intuitive, clean & slender

Do you mainly pick up the latest fashion trends to wear or do you unconsciously discover in-fashion pieces of clothing to wear when shopping?

There are a lot of well dressed students at this school, so one must try to keep up with them by finding inspiration from wherever.

What do you believe is in fashion at the moment?

Coats and chelsea boots are obviously trendy among guys.

A brief description of the outfit:

A fresh red spring coat from Zara contrasted with a navy-colored silk-shirt from Zara, H&M off-white tapered pants paired with a pair of Notabene red velour shoes and a patterned scarf from Magasin.

What is your favorite clothes store?

A store that is suitable for my economy and my lust for new wardrobe items. I’m a fan of high-street shopping. I love how brands like Zara and H&M are able to follow latest trends, and how they give girls like me the opportunity to be creative with my style. When we operate in this price-category, I am not afraid to buy colors and experimenting items. I bought a pair of expensive boots recently, and I had to choose either a black or red pair, an in the end I went home the the safe choice: the black pair – I don’t like the safe choice.

Describe your comprehensive style in 3 words:

Experimental, comfortable & personal

Do you mainly pick up the latest fashion trends to wear or do you unconsciously discover in-fashion pieces of clothing to wear when shopping?

Both! I often seek inspiration from social media and get ideas to my personal style, but I have a tendency to do a lot of impulsive shopping ass well.

What do you believe is in fashion at the moment?

Layer on layer, where you can play with structures and colors to create beautiful silhouettes. Not to forget: beautiful socks! Something that came as a natural reaction to the “sneaks and cropped jeans”-trend, and something I am huge fan of – it’s in the details!

A brief description of the outfit:

A floral spring-colored shirt bought in a second hand shop in New York cooled down by a black wool coat from Whyred, black cropped trousers from Won Hundred accessorized with a black Acne Studios satin cap and a Royal Republiq daybag to add a classy touch, finished off by the limited edition Puma R689 x TRINOMIC x ALIFE sneakers.

What is your favorite clothes store?

‘Støy’ in the heart of Aarhus has been my favorite for several years. With great emphasis on quality, Støy manages to capture current trends from high-end brands, hence leaving you with lots of inspiration and impressions to develop on. Furthermore, the staff is really passionate, helpful and casual, neither pushy nor douchey, which stands in shiny contrast to most stores in Denmark.

Describe your comprehensive style in 3 words:

Classy, edgy, refined

Do you mainly pick up the latest fashion trends to wear or do you unconsciously discover in-fashion pieces of clothing to wear when shopping?

The latter! I prefer to work my way through the stores with a blurry image or idea of what to bring home, i.e. a certain color, a fabric or category, and luckily most buys turn out to be in-fashion, probably by coincidence half of the time. On the contrary, deliberately picking up the latest fashion in the store closest by is just too easy, and it somehow becomes very pretentious as well. Furthermore, it contributes with nothing but hot flashes and memories of grocery shopping.

What do you believe is in fashion at the moment?

I believe that the phenomena ‘slow fashion’ – quality rather than quantity – is very in at the moment; an increased and dedicated focus with regards to the materials, clever designs and methods in use. Furthermore, denim, denim and denim! Aside from denim, I feel the jeans are moving towards a looser – not loose – but looser fit, the colors are getting brighter, and subtle contrasts have now been allowed. Finally, somebody told me that jewelry for men is supposed to be the new black in 2016, which I’ve personally decided to ignore to the fullest.

Stay tuned for more trends, more outfits, more styles, and even more fashion.
